A Canadian geographic mnemonic

Almost all transcontinental road and rail traffic in Canada passes through one of three passes in the Rocky Mountains between Alberta and British Columbia.

Here’s a handy mnemonic that you can use to remember their names, their positions from north to south, and the cities they connect:

Yep, kick clean!

YEP: The Yellowhead Pass connects Edmonton to Prince George

KiCK: The Kicking Horse Pass connects Calgary to Kamloops

CLeaN: The Crowsnest Pass connects Lethbridge to Nelson
